Venice in Color

Blue Corner

Blue Corner

By now everyone must think that I like narrow places with converging lines of perspective, and girls.  To me the girls looked like they were posing.  The last photo is the famous view of the Grand Canal from Rialto bridge.  Everyone takes that picture.  It’s OK to do that occasionally, but always be looking for something unusual.  Blue corner is named after a famous scuba diving location in Palau.

  1. Your comment about the girls reminded me of an Italian teacher I had who said that Italians went to shopping malls not so much to buy things, but to see and be seen ;-)

  2. LOL…like narrow places…and girls…what’s NOT to love about both? I see how you are “torn” between color and black and white. They each have their own beauty. And it’s hard not to feel certain shots are destined for one or the other, not both! Beautiful!

  3. It’s not difficult to pose in Venice, it’s the scenery that helps :)

  4. well well, you “owe” us yet photos of the piazza & the canal ‘cas of the gaps between title and actual photo ; ) cheers

  5. Benny

I was in Italy back in grade 10 for a trip through my high school. I was very disappointed we didn’t get to go to Venice. Looks beautiful!

  6. And again, I love the Ghetto photo best… ;)

    April 11, 2013 at 9:29 am

    • Erica, that’s cause I am a Ghetto boy.

      April 11, 2013 at 9:31 am

      • Hahahaha!!!
Does this mean I’m a Ghetto girl? Because I like your Ghetto-photos? ;)

  7. Nice looking ladies! The gondola jam is pretty cool. Better than a Detroit freeway mess.

    April 11, 2013 at 10:09 am

    • Detroit, LOL. At least you can dance in the streets in Detroit. It is hard to do that in a canal.

  8. Love the Venitian Alley. great shot.

  9. the young women are lovely…however…hope your camera focuses on an older woman every now and again :D

    • If you try the menu buttons in the header “Art Lovers” and “Texas” you will find a more diverse mix of age groups.

      April 11, 2013 at 3:57 pm

  10. I like what you did with the blue and white, the same theme over the canal in the last shot.

You put some soul in the alleyways, and good composition and order in your shots. This helps capture the grit and life on the street, and how people interact with it. That’s always appreciated.

    • Thank you Chris. “Blue Corner” is an area masked off for construction or renovation.

  12. Gorgeous blue skies!

    April 11, 2013 at 6:21 pm

    • Thank you Amy. The perfect sky for a brisk run.

  13. It may be Everyone’s Canal Shot but I like your take on it.

    April 11, 2013 at 7:19 pm

    • There were several exposure adjustments to even things out. I could print it and people would probably love it.

      April 11, 2013 at 7:36 pm

  14. Argh…
    beautiful Venice.
love the blue and the alley.

  15. Love the water views. A total water fan here, there is so much expression in the light and reflections. Girls are good, but where were/are the boys?? :-)

    April 11, 2013 at 8:10 pm

    • Thank you so much. Here is a guy most girls would think was handsome:

I have a few images of men, but not enough. A woman photographer friend who mainly shoots boudoir tells me I am missing half of it if I don’t photograph guys. She is right.

      April 11, 2013 at 9:10 pm

      • There is no picture, unless you’re meaning the profile pic?! lol

        April 11, 2013 at 9:32 pm

        • I thought that I inserted a link into the reply bud it did not work. In the header there is a menu button for “Art Lovers”. Mostly girls, but a couple of guys too. Just scroll down a bit. In the “Houston” menu category there are a couple of guys too.

          April 11, 2013 at 9:56 pm

        • Thanks. Is that you with the bike. It’s gorgeous.

          April 11, 2013 at 9:57 pm

        • Nope, the bike is something I photographed in Switzerland several years ago. I am still partial to motorcycles, but not sport bikes. Perhaps a BMW 1200 GS would do it.

Sometimes photography is about fantasy, Fashion photographers are particularly good at that.

          April 11, 2013 at 10:00 pm

        • I don’t know that much about bikes, but Ducati are pretty sexy. Hubby wants a new one, and now I’m hooked, it’s a toss u between a sporty one just for him, or a bigger cruiser one for us both…

        • I just know the American way. Feel free to go Canadian or UK as you feel.
