Haleakala is the premier landscape photography site on Maui and one of the best in the USA.  In only 90 minutes you can drive from the beach to the summit at 10,000 feet (3,000 Meters).  It’s a magical or even spiritual place for sure.   The colors start to emerge around 11 AM  and become more vibrant as the day goes on.  Being above the clouds makes things even more interesting.  This location appears in the movie Baraka.  The volcano has not erupted in over 200 years, but you never know.  Air temperatures are mild or even on the cold side when it is hot at sea level.  Several hikes are available.
