Vail in the Summer

Girl on a Ridge

Girl on a Ridge

Vail was built as a planned city from the ground up, unlike some of the other Colorado ski resorts that started out as mining towns.  Photos out in the open arid areas were taken about 15 miles Northwest of Vail.

    • Thank you John, notice the dead trees in the background due to pine bark betel infestation.

  4. A beautiful set of Colorado pictures, Ron. They remind me of a semi-arid Scotland almost.
Thanks for sharing with us this very different corner of the United States.

  6. I like your featured photograph. I like the way the sky, figure and land are all on one plane. All flat. The color ones are nice, but this one is a work of art.

    • Hollis, I completely understand you. The essence of photography is the flattening of the three dimensional world. I suppose it is with painting too. My favorite bloggers are the non photographer visual artists, like you.

      • Thank you. Well, photography is an art form, first, a photograph second, in my opinion.

        • It can be an art form, or it can be a snapshot. Oh well, a lot of things are that way.

  9. I don’t normally do this award thing but wanted to nominate you for ‘The Sunshine Award’…. because your photographs are always so brilliant – cheers me up on a rainy day. If you want to accept it then just go to my blog and follow the questions…. if not, just take this as a nod of appreciation ;-)
