  2. That sunset is spectacular!!!

    • That was shot a 5 minute walk from where I live. Thanks.

  3. You’ve struck upon one of the things I miss about the states…an arts scene. Guess I can live vicariously through your blog. Little but nature here, which isn’t so bad. And the insane guy I met at the beach yesterday emerging with a bag of octopi (sp?)…fully dressed, babbling, and screaming “Pulpo” when I asked him what was in the bag. Wife took his photo, which freaked him out to the point he ran away in a weaving pattern. Some arts scene. Great sunset shot from the bayou, too.

    • I would like to go to Costa Rica for about a month in the summer.

      • This country has three types of climate…Caribbean Coast, humid and constant weather – Central Valley mountains, eternal spring, and Pacific Coast with Wet and Dry season. It’s so small you can experience all three in a day, if you want. If you liked Hawaii you’d probably like it here.

        • CR looks like a good place to go to get away from the extreme Houston summer heat.

        • I haven’t slept in a bed in almost a year..just on it. Got rid of most of my clothes and shoes except my snake boots for jungle tripping. When it rains it’s warm, when it’s cold, it’s 70 F. The Caribbean side reminded me a lot of SE Texas/Louisiana…humid and hot, but if the weather doesn’t fit, or the view gets old…just drive for an hour. If you ever do let us know, we could give some specific advice, maybe meet up and go to a volcano or scream at Howler monkeys.

      • Lucky lucky you! :)

        • The sky is very good around here, but the area is flat. I climbed down the side of a drainage ditch (bayou) to give the illusion that the land is not flat. There is another one from that same spot somewhere else on the blog with a completely different sky.

      • It must be lovely to witness such awesome sunrises & sunsets and be able to go five minutes down the road to capture them forever! :)

  5. Sunset….Stunning!

  6. Great sunset shot. I’ve come to just love these since I’ve moved here. No matter how “normal” they may look at the moment, given time they always seem to move through a progression of magical images.

  10. gorgeous sunset! I don’t see them much any more…for over 30 yrs, I lived lake side, with a westerly exposure so saw them nightly, and I have to admit I took them for granted :( now I live too far away to quickly get to an area to see it clearly, so when I see something like this I enjoy!

    May 15, 2013 at 5:15 pm

    • In flat places the sunsets are best. In mountain valleys, not so good.

      May 15, 2013 at 7:41 pm

      • right…we have some of the most stunning vibrant, sunsets here as it sets on the water…I really need to make an effort to get some more shots…

      • Wow!!! That view is just breathtaking, Ron!!!

        September 2, 2014 at 8:37 am

        • It is very flat here, so the sunsets are good.

          September 2, 2014 at 8:43 am

        • And then some, Ron.
