Galveston has a population of under 50,000. Right now it seems like more than 50,000 Harley Davidson motorcycles are there rolling up and down the streets without mufflers. Bikers are a bit nuts, but the girl bartenders who wait on them in Galveston are even crazier. Some are serving in bikinis or outfits more suitable for a burlesque performance. Their behavior is as outrageous as their outfits with the girls asking for tips to be tucked under the elastic on their hips. On the historic Strand there is a constant drone of Harley V-twin motors as the sound reflects off the buildings on either side of the street. The weather was perfect today with lots of sun, pretty clouds, temperatures in the low 80′s and a nice sea breeze blowing in off the Gulf of Mexico. It is possible that the Lone Star Rally is the largest motorcycling event, even bigger than Sturgis. I hope my viewers will understand why I did not take pictures of the mostly middle aged male riders. It’s just biker madness and Galveston craziness. What can I say?

Oh I see, but what I mean was whit those pretty gals, ha ha ha.
Kinda of makes me want to get a Harley.
Me too.
Texas knows how to throw a biker rally. Next time visit Austin for the Republic of Texas Rally. You won’t be disappointed.
Thank you. You might want to check the Texas, Art Lovers and Houston menu buttons, all Texas stuff.
I will definitely do that!
Wow! I may have to alter my Texas itinerary to visit Galveston later this year. Do you think a 60 year old can handle the heat?!? Lovely photos. Phil.
P.S. Glad you like “In search of unusual destinations”, by the way.
The rally was in November with mild weather. Galveston has milder weather than the rest of Texas because it is on the sea.
Too bad there aren’t more cute men! *Sigh* Anyway, thought you might like this post. My friend Kayln wants to get a motorcycle as part of her bucket list (she’s been given 3 years to live):
