Old Pecan Street Festival, Austin

Color Runners

Three Girls in Tutu’s

As if Friday night’s insanity wasn’t enough, on Saturday 6th Street was closed off for a street festival and paint covered participants from a color run that morning were wandering around.  The bars were open and people were selling beer out of ice filled barrels on the street.  [NB, the dizzy rooster girls were asked if it was OK before I started shooting.]

  1. Awesome! I love the color runners in the tutu’s and the Bikinis bar & grill! I want to go! :)

    • Danna, the tutu’s have become popular at running events in Texas. The best time to visit Austin is when UT is in session. Last weekend was particularly active. I have an older Austin post in the Texas category.

  5. Is 6th Street ever plain, dull and quiet ? The amount of fun and life and colour and beautiful youth you find to photograph there is extraordinary.

    • Well the place is a bit slow in the morning. On a typical Friday or Saturday night it goes nuts and the police close off the street to cars.

  6. I admire your ability to get folks on the street to allow you to shoot them – all your shots are very natural too.

    • Thank you Robert. There are quite a few rejections in that process.

      • Sure, we only see the successes. Just like nobody sees the “klunker” images that get deleted off my SD card :-)
