I am a veteran scuba diver, based in Houston, Texas, with over 1,000 dives.  I do not take pictures underwater and can’t offer a good explanation for that.  The blog is curated to reflect my current interests and style, so old posts will see changes over time.  Somebody must find it interesting as this blog received over 1,000,000 views from more than 120 countries in a little more than two years.

Everything appearing here is original photography that I have created.  Please take no offense if I do not respond to “chain letter”  awards as they are outside the scope of this blog.

Although I have many landscapes and even some photos of wild animals, my real purpose is, as one of my photographer friends put it, “to  capture the essence of what us humans are all about.”

Widgets may be accessed via the three bar icon at the top of the page.  The menu buttons are the easiest way to get around.   Both Houston and Texas are more interesting than you might think.

    Hello Ron,

I have watched your work for quite a while and I must say I am really impressed. How did you get into street photography and what advice can you share with me. I am interested in beginning soon.

I hope you do not mind me using this method of contacting you. I look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience. All the best.

RE: I am the real one. As for DPR, that place is a troll infested wasteland. The trolls there are so obsessed with me that I have been followed here. So that is proof they care. Care like that, nobody needs.

Moving here from NR. Just wanted to say that I actually like your pictures.

  3. Ron, I just discovered your site (came from NR but not a troll) and I’m putting your site in my favorites to check in on from time to time. Love your pictures. One critique though, it’s hard to view all the pics in various albums. It sometimes skips certain pics and gets stuck. But I’ll still keep coming back! Keep up the awesome work.

    • Thank you Trey. Sorry it took me forever to get back to you. There have been many upgrades to the WordPress platform in the last nine months so I believe images should show without any problems.

  4. Ron thank you for the ‘like.’

You have some wonderful photos. I lived in Houston for a few years – as you may have gathered from my blog. Your photography brings back many good memories. Thank you for sharing your interests.

  5. Hi Ron,

I came across your site on M3Post and must say you have done some nice work here … Congratulations

I am a member right now at SmugMug, after seeing this site I am thinking of changing to WordPress :)

Keep up the nice work, I am sure many folks appreciate it :)

    M3RD

    Cheers,

    Rolf-Dieter

  6. Thanks for stopping by my “Cee’s Fun Foto Challenge” post. Your photos are amazing! I particularly like all things Hawaiian, and your Renfest photos are amusing and amazing. I like color, and I like people. Winning combination for photos! Hope you don’t mind if I keep my eye on you! :-) Great site!

  7. Thank you for stopping by my blog and liking one of my recent posts. I enjoy your street photography as I really find it difficult to take photos of people (espeically those I don’t know).

  8. Thanks for the visit and ‘Like’ Ron. I really like the quality of your images and note you have a Nikon D800.
Are all the images in your blog taken with it? I am planning to move to a full frame sensor camera and am interested in the D800. How is it working for you?

    • All of the recent ones are D800. If you go into the Carousel, usually it says which camera I used. I bought the 800 in July. Before that I had a D700 and even earlier a D300. I think the D600 looks good for the money, but I would wait until the sensor dust issue is cleared up.

    • I don’t know the exact answer. Try using some of the same tags and categories I use. Use galleries and only post the best image of a post large. Remove the right sidebar so the largest image will display larger. It took a while until anyone around here noticed me. Most of my viewers traditionally come from outside wordpress.com.

    • I think you mean your latest post. The photographs are fine. Actually, I find the set of photographs of you with different hair colors to be most interesting. Putting some of yourself into art is a very powerful thing. Add a few words. It does not have to be a long story.

  9. Thanks so much for visiting my blog and liking my photo! I appreciate it very much. You have a very nice blog! I’ve enjoyed poking around and look forward to following your work. :-)

  10. Great photos Ron – I enjoyed looking through them and especially love the ones of the Pacific – also the Texan women at the festival are great. Thanks for liking my blog too! I love photography and you’ve given me ideas about uploading my portrait photos too!

  11. Hey Ron! Thanks for checking out my blog! I have ‘toured’ some of the many places you photographed…love your work- some of the shots of Rome, Africa, Kauai…wow. I also love your Houston Gay Pride collection- got a kick out of the ironic juxtaposition of ‘going to hell’ pic in the midst of it all :)

Thankyou for visiting the Wallaroo Photo Journal. Your photos are awesomly inspiring! Makes me want to take better photos :-) I hope you will be able to make it to Australia some time. You will find much to photograph here!

  13. Hey Ron,
Thank you for stopping by Clicks & Corks and liking my snow monkey photograph: much appreciated.
I have enjoyed checking your blog out and looking at your photographs: I particularly liked your Hawaiian series.
    Take care

  14. thank you for the ‘like’. it’s very encouraging. I’m just unpopular enough that I have the time to respond to likes. I’m enjoying your blog very much. DFTBA. Terry

  15. Hi! Love your work! Fantastic! You should try that under water photography…I’d love to see. Thanks for visiting my blog & your like on my recent photography entry. Much appreciated! K

  16. Hey Ron,

Thanks for following my blog. When I clicked the link, it took me to your Gravatar. Nice Repsol! My first bike was a 125cc Honda CBR. I had the best summer of my life on that little bike. Its too bad I don’t have any decent photos. I’ve since sold it and am currently looking for a bigger one. Something along the lines of a R6 :)

Looking to learn to scuba dive this year! So your blog is definitely in my realm of interests. Keep the photos comin’!

  17. Hi, fantastic blog. I am looking for a volunteer to maybe write a small article on Scuba Diving as a hobby for my Hobbies website which introduces people to new hobbies….. Hope that you may take the time to look at my site and let me know if you can help, many thanks Graham, YourHobby.co.uk.

  18. Thank you for liking my post on the Spring Flower Lattice! I think your street photography really captures the “human essence” as you say. It’s very inspiring to see so many beautiful places and the people who live and breathe in those worlds.

  19. Thanks for checking out my blog and my Peanut Butter Protein Balls! I hope you get a chance to try some of my recipes for yourself! I look forward to following your posts in the future as well.

  20. Cool pics, Ron. Forwarded a link for New Orleans to a friend who is to visit soon. Not so dissimilar to Brazil! And thanks for the like!

  21. Hi Ron,
I’m enjoying looking at all of your photos from around the world. Maybe one day even underwater ones as well (I am a fellow scuba diver- albeit a beginner- and am absolutely in love with the underwater world)! Thank you for your continuing likes on my site. All the best!

  22. Hi Ron. I am very impressed with your work and your entire blog. I noticed you give advice to photographers and I am currently trying to further my career. Do you mind if I email you with a few questions and get some advice from you?

  23. Hi Ron, Thank you for visiting my blog and liking my post. Now I can follow your delicious one, thanks! Just looked at Venice Black and White and loved the images, especially the fact that ‘Venice’ isn’t the first thing you notice. Cheers!

  24. Many thanks for stopping by my blog with a like. Great pics here and your gravatar photo also caught my eye – the Honda! I’m a passionate biker (BMW F800ST) and ex-diver – ten years in the cold waters around the UK. Cold water but some amazing sea-life and wonderful wrecks.

  25. My God your photography is gorgeous! I can only hope to be this perfect one day in my career. So gorgeous. What cameras do you use if you dont mind me asking? I am infatuated by your skill with a camera. *blush*

  26. Hi Ron. Thanks for looking in on my blog and following it. I suppose one could do scuba diving in Mwinilunga, but it hasn’t been tried yet. Perhaps it’s the crocodiles that have put people off. I hope in the long run that you will find something of interest in my blog.

  27. I can understand why you have had so many visits on your blog; you are a really gifted photographer and I guess also a person that makes people at ease when they are photographed. I enjoy every visit here.

  28. Hi Ron, I stopped at your blog and see pictures of nice and cool, you are so professional
thank you so much for liking my recent photo today, maybe I will always visit here
