I am a veteran scuba diver, based in Houston, Texas, with over 1,000 dives.  Underwater photography is not my thing, and I can’t offer a good explanation for that.  This photographs is curated to reflect my current interests and style, so old posts will see changes over time.  Somebody must find it interesting, as this blog received over 1,000,000 views from more than 120 countries in the first two years.  Viewers please remember this is a blog and not a portfolio.  Some photos are not going to be great as stand alone images, but do complete the story of the post.

All photographs appearing here are my original work.

This blog is award free.

What distinguishes me from most other photographers is that I work in many genres.  The viewer will find  abstracts, street, event and travel photography here in both color and monochrome.  Menu buttons in the header are the easiest way to get around.

  5. Hello Ron,

I´m Belinda from Scubacrowd.com and I´m contacting you because we are developing innovative tools to help divers come together and dive centers in boosting their sales. I was wondering if you would be interested in knowing more about us and if you would be interested in writing an article featuring us on your news? In short we are a start-up who launched in January 2013 and we are developing a community of divers so that these passionate people can find their dive spots easily, share photos instantly, log their dives online and find the dive centers they want.

    Looking forward hearing from you!

    Best Wishes,

    • Belinda, the focus of this blog is street, travel and abstract photography. The scuba aspect is incidental.

  21. Hi Ron, I always enjoy your photos so much. I had a quick question… When you take your street photos how do you approach your subjects? Do you chat with them first and then ask for a photo, do you just take the photo, or does it depend on the situation?

    May 14, 2014 at 8:47 am

  31. I saw that you liked one of my posts and checked out your blog. I was pleasantly surprised at how engrossing these photos are. You seem to be able to capture the intimacy (the people) and grandeur (landscapes) of environments without trivializing like some other photographers do (“photographers” as in what I see in publications, so I’m not an expert by any means!). I’m not sure if that makes sense, but there’s some certain unconventional approach to how you photograph places and people that’s admirable. Anyway, you’re certainly not run-of-the-mill.

  39. Ron,
Thank you for the like in my stock photography site, coming from such an accomplished and prolific photographer as you… I’m definitely following you. Headed up to Traverse City, Michigan for the week-end, I see you got some nice shots there – small world!

    August 15, 2014 at 6:37 pm

    • Thank you. Traverse City is a cool place. Some shifts in my life are taking me away from the Midwest, but I have fond memories.

      August 15, 2014 at 8:57 pm

  40. The “Hungry Fish” piece definitely reminds me of a Fine Arts Museum Canvas.

    August 17, 2014 at 9:32 am

    • Thank you. That was a mud colored shot that sat in my archives for two years until I figured out how to put color into it. It won a picture of the week prize in a forum.

      August 17, 2014 at 9:36 am

  41. Excellent photography, excellent eye.composition and exploration of colour.

    September 13, 2014 at 9:11 am

    • Thank you, please hang around for the extended tour.

  44. Have you ever attended or thought of attending Burning Man in the Blackrock Desert?

    September 19, 2014 at 10:36 am

    • I have thought of attending it, but the logistics are difficult, especially for anyone who has to fly in. Not only that, but I don’t own camping gear and have not gone camping in ages.

      September 19, 2014 at 10:40 am

      • I have never attended for the same reasons as you. In all honesty there is a Walmart right off I80 where I take my lawn chair and sit for hours “watching” the burners stock up for their trip to the Blackrock Desert. It’s amazing. Speaking of flying in I have an attorney friend who wanted to see what it was like and he flew into Burning Man only to be greeted by completely nude flag girls guiding him to land! I really would like to go.

        September 19, 2014 at 10:43 am

        • By flying in, I mean landing in Reno, renting an SUV and stocking up there. You appear to live close enough to drive there. As for naked women, I am all for that.
