At the Galleries, 2010

Girl and Iguana

Girl and Iguana

This is a selection of informal portraits taken at art events in Houston during 2010, mostly during the first 9 months of the year.  The portrait of Alexandra Nechita is on the Wikipedia and is the only Creative Commons licensed item on this site.  Everything else is copyright by default.  Claire Richards now has black hair.  The Mother in “Mother and Child” has added to her tattoos.

  5. Nice series – the Claire Richards shot has a 1960s air to it – a great period shot even if that was not your original intention – love it!

    • Thank you. This is really the best of stuff I did in the galleries that year up through September. I used to have a lot more, but these were selected to be closer to my current style and things were cut down because I had too much of the same thing.

      • It’s good to take stock and edit though. And these really are amazing.

        • It was also a clean up project. I deleted about 11% of the photographs on the site. Nearly anything that looks too posed is gone. Shots of women who are not models trying to look like models are gone. Shots of models are gone.

The name Alexandra Nechita jumped out at me…. I met her when she was 12 years old at her solo art exhibit at Cal State… my companion and I were in total disbelief that a kid that young could create such sophisticated and wonderful artwork… we felt for sure she was a
“seven day wonder”… so it is great to see her all grown up and still painting!
