West Maui Sunset

8 Photos in This Gallery

“Surfer Girl Wipe Out” was seen near Spreckelsville.  I grabbed White Lunch in Paia.  Some of these were from a whale watching trip out of Lahaina where the two girls kept us company. They were friends of the boat captain.    Do I have to tell you I am in love with Maui?

  15. Wow! That West Maui Sunset is unbelievable. The way the clouds dip down over the mountain. Did you alter that? Or was it that way already?

    • Processing on that shot was minimal. There is a 16:9 crop to remove some of the water and I used a very wide angle lens. A lot of my photography involves hazards like avoiding falling into water, getting run over by impatient motorists or getting clobbered by weirdos. I have somehow survived all of it. Think of it as a way to get thrills without the cost of going skiing or owning a motorcycle.

  20. The header image shows some of nature’s drama: the way the clouds edge the mountains is engaging.

  21. These pictures are beautiful, what kind of camera do you use? My goal is to eventually make it out to Maui to surf as well!

      • yes, the weather is nice. We just have some very strange rip currents here. I’ve seen lots of marine life. Whales jumping yesterday nearby and a huge pod of dolphins this morning. Lots of big tuna around too. 🙂
