Vancouver Island

Behind the Gardens

Behind the Gardens

I spent three perfect days on Vancouver Island shooting in town and at the famous Buchart Gardens.  There was a Busker festival that week so things were happening.

  2. Looks like a fun time and very nice weather – exactly what kind of store is selling the fresh poop?

  7. fabulous series! The Odd Couple…they appear to be mother and daughter??? I lived in Vancouver for two years, many years ago but sadly never made it to the Island. Gotta love Buskers…I’m the Busker Coordinator for our Farmers’ Market but I deal with musicians, with the exception of a face painter and balloon artist…we don’t have much in the way of climbers here… 🙂

        • Close enough. I have been up there twice and really think it is a great way to get away from the hot Texas summers. Besides, there is great craft beer and endless things to photograph.

        • Nature is great up here. Great restaurants and food. You should go to the Mountain.

        • Which mountain did you have in mind, Rainier? Last time I was there I could not go hiking because in July the snow was everywhere, and like a true Texan, I didn’t know what to do about it.

        • Sorry, Rainier. People around here call it The Mountain. You can always go up to Paradise, and walk around. It’s basically a rock, ice and snow complex. I know a guy who hunts elk there (permitted, outside the park) and a guy who counts big cat populations.

You should be able to stay below the snow line and still have a good experience.

Part of the same volcanic activity as St. Helens, Mt Hood, Crater Lake all the way down to Mt. Shasta in California.

        • Every day is paradise around here, LOL. It was cool today with the high in the low 90’s. It will be fall in another month. We don’t have mountains. If we want to climb, there are stairs. Great conversation Chris. You make me want to return.

        • Texas doesn’t sound too bad, at least in the winter maybe. Adios.

    • Good idea, I do that all the time when I see other travel blogs. I want to jump in my car and drive somewhere. San Antonio, Banderas, West Texas and maybe New Mexico. I want to go go go…
