ISO: The Perfect Wine (More)

How does one find the perfect wine? You go to the source, which is why I went to Napa, California.  It was raining flood style when I arrived, but the weather cleared up before noon the next morning when I  toured the Hess winery. There were detours due to the flooded roads.

Some of the wineries were designed to be tourist attractions from the ground up. They have lavish grounds, and one has a gondola lift for transportation to the tasting room. The surprise of the day was at Mumm where they had 27 Ansel Adams prints hanging in their art gallery on loan from the Adams family. I have never seen more than about half a dozen, even in a museum.

  7. To see 27 Ansel Adams prints, that must’ve been an experience. I’ve seen two or three at most.

Have a Happy New Year, Ron. Looking forward to seeing more of your fine work.

    • The prints encompassed all of his most famous works. I actually did not bother to taste the champagne due to safety concerns.

  11. Thank you for liking “Timepieces for the New Year.” This is another great photo gallery. I like the vast open sky in “Last Light at Mumm’s” and the beautiful combination of hills, trees, and grapevines in the other pictures. I hope you have a Happy New Year! 🙂

  21. Stunning images. From reviewing the responses it appears you were in my area of the country last fall. I’m making plans to go to the Hess Gallery. I’ve hear great things about it. Thanks for sharing these beautiful images. They reawakens my appreciation of the area that I see almost everyday.
