These photos were taken from the Petroleum Club.  It is on the top floor of a building formerly occupied by Exxon Mobile.  The club will move to a new location in 2015.  I used a Samsung Galaxy S3 in low light mode for the captures.

        • SGS3, it is mentioned in the text of the post. I did a little work on the shots with standard photo editing techniques.

      • I know they are up to S5 but newer is not always better, Ron. I am looking at the Galaxy camera whichever the model is. I have seen the pics Samsung phone takes .. and it is a WOW from me! Crossing fingers Santa puts that camera under my tree. LOL

  5. Really stunning images, particularly of the buildings. I like how the interior light is bouncing of the interior glass.

  7. Great job Ron, wow!! And with a phone too. Samsung has the best cameras. With a view like that, why would the club move? Other than money of course.

  12. I have a Samsung Galaxy Express, the lowest of the low, but I’m starting to like the camera. I have to start using the different scene modes. This is a great series!!

These images are a startling reminder of just how small a city I live in. I mean I KNEW that of course, but wow.
I do love a night time shot of a cityscape, Ron.

    • Thank you Angela. I do have some fancy gear, but there are lots of great photographers using budget gear marketed to amateurs.

      • Oh, I realize you must have professional gear! But what you’ve accomplished with a Samsung Galaxy was not luck, I’m sure. Yes, I’ve seen books published by professionals with photos taken with iPhones. Pretty cool.
