Many cruise ports share certain characteristics. When ships are docked streets are jammed with people. In the afternoon when the ships leave, town seems deserted. Like most small tourist towns, there are more restaurants and shops selling all kinds of junk than the local population could support. There are over 1,000 taxi drivers on this small island. Restaurants cost about half of what they do in the US due to the weak peso. A really good liter of Tequila may be purchased at the Mega Mart for about $14. That is not good for your mental health.
