Five Princesses

One afternoon in Kowloon I came across a festival promoting traditional Chinese culture.  The musical performances were unimpressive but I found the costumes interesting.

  4. Thank you for liking “Living Bridge.” I enjoyed this fun photo gallery. I think the pretty costumes in “Five Princesses” are interesting too, especially in combination with the modern-day sneakers most of the girls were wearing. 🙂

    • Thank you. Styles are different there. It is rare to see a young woman wearing leggings without a skirt or long top for coverage. The old style basketball shoes, popular in Europe, have yet to catch on.

      • I like that they still dress modestly there. Just today I was listening to the radio and hearing some women complaining that they were having a hard time finding decent clothing in the stores not only for themselves but for their daughters. Apparently the trend here in women’s clothing is the streetwalker look. 🙂

I do not have a problem with them wearing sneakers or even wearing old style basketball shoes with their costumes. It was just the juxtaposition of old and new styles that caught my eye. I like wearing sneakers and other comfortable shoes too even if they are not fashionable. 🙂
