This famous scenic bay is a 3 hour car ride from Hanoi.  It’s not far, but the roads are slow.

Hoi An is a 45 minute taxi ride from Da Nang.  That will cost you only $12.  At its center is an old city heavily influenced by the Chinese.  It is a major tourist destination.

If you have not seen my photos from Hong Kong and Macau, please don’t limit your journey to this post.  It was an exciting trip.  You can share my experiences for free (as in beer) by scrolling down the front page of my blog and checking out the galleries.

Along the streets of Macau there are small businesses located behind garage doors.  Electricity must be expensive because few had lights on.  It appeared the majority of these places were food related, either small restaurants or some kind of take away.  These micro businesses were a stark contrast to the giant gambling casinos.   Dried meat is a local specialty.  Tourists from China couldn’t get enough of it.

The Grand Lisboa is easily one of the strangest buildings in the world standing in contrast to the gritty jumble of Macau.
