The sound of roaring motorcycle engines on the Strand, mostly Harley V-Twins, is the sound of happiness.  After two rainy days the weather cleared up and all the bikers in Galveston (near Texas) were treated to a perfect day.  Lots of bikers and pretty girls here.   Thank goodness for pretty bartenders.

This is the first batch of photos, expect more over the next few days.  The girl in the pink top below is the daughter of the gal in the large photo above.

Lone Star Rally, Galveston, Texas

Heading Out on the Strand

Heading Out on the Strand

Galveston has a population of under 50,000.  It seems like more than 50,000 Harley Davidson motorcycles are there rolling up and down the streets without mufflers.  On the historic Strand there is a constant drone of Harley V-twin motors as the sound reflects off the buildings on either side of the street.  The weather was perfect with lots of sun, pretty clouds, temperatures in the low 80’s and a nice sea breeze blowing in off the Gulf of Mexico.  It is possible that the Lone Star Rally is the largest motorcycling event, even bigger than Sturgis.

Bikers are a bit nuts, but the girl bartenders who wait on them in Galveston are even crazier.  Some are serving in outfits more suitable for a burlesque performance.  Their behavior is as outrageous as their outfits with the girls asking for tips to be tucked under the elastic on their hips.    I hope my viewers will understand why I did not take many pictures of the mostly middle aged male riders.  It’s just biker madness and Galveston craziness.  What can I say?

The Monster Girls of Reno

Up in the high plains of Nevada sits Reno, not far from the shores of beautiful Lake Taho.  On Independence Day weekend Reno hosts the All-American Barbecue Festival in conjunction with the Firecracker 500 off road race. The event has several homage bands, and iss held downtown on Virginia Street just outside the wonderful Silver Legacy hotel. Monster, makers of the energy drink showed up with a bunch of models in costumes that were rather skimpy, accompanied by motorcycle boots. In the heat of the afternoon the girls went out on the tarmac while two wild freestyle bikers on 600’s did wheelies and burnouts around them. I can tell you it did not do their beautiful hair any good. Although these girls are models who instinctively pose, I did manage to get a few shots in street candid style.
